Daddy Ruger

This blog is for prayers for my family. On Tuesday we found out my father has Stage 4 Gastric Cancer. We are still in the diagnotic stages and am not sure when treatments will begin but he is optimitic and ready to fight. The areas affected are inoperable so the next step is chemotherapy. They are placing a shunt in his shoulder to give the chemo drugs through and they are placing a stent in his esophagus to ensure it stays open when he eats. We would appreciate any prayers you can send our way to help comfort the emotions and strengthen the weak (namely me). I will try to keep the post updated with progress on his treatment and how he is doing. We love him very much and are trying to stay positive for all involved. I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!!

Update

Well, today marks 15 weeks. I still have a long way to go (25 weeks) but at least it is going forward. I have a lot of trouble sleeping because I have to get up every two hours to visit the restroom but I guess I should get used to getting up that frequently. When the baby comes it'll be eating that often anyway. And yes, I know, I know, it is only going to get worse as the pregnancy goes on.

Georgia December 2005

This picture was taken a couple of years ago on the Okone River in Georgia near Grandma Thomans house. As you can see it was just a little chilly because of the need for jackets. Didn't keep us from going out of the boat though. I just like the photo.

Home Again

We are back home and settled back in to daily routines from our July 4th trip to the east coast. It was great seeing family and friends and always enjoy going to the different areas of the National Mall.

Here Carol (my sister) and I are on our way to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum

Carol and I outside the Washington National Cathedral. This was my third trip there and I always see something I hadn't seen the time before.

A little smooch from my sweetheart in a gazebo. You can see the National Cathedral in the background.

This is Freddy. He is a good ol' southern boy from Louisiana and is a lot of fun to be around.

This is Tom's aunts father. His name is Leo Plunkett and looks and moves around pretty dang well for a 91 year old. It was a pleasure meeting him and hope to see him again in the future. (He tells great stories)

All in all the trip was a success even though it rained on us at the 4th of July celebrations. At least they finally stopped for us to have the fireworks display.

Thank you Rick and Maureen for once again opening your home and inviting us to the festivities.

Doctor Appt.

I went to the doctor this morning and listened to the heartbeat. The doctor says it is a very strong and healthy heart; 160 beats per min. We talked about my blood work I had done at the last visit and he says everything looks great and my iron levels are fantastic. I only gained two pounds since the last visit on May 30. He is pleased and says I am doing fine on my weight. I asked him about travel and he says it is safe to travel up until November 1st. I also asked if I were to go into labor after a specific date when would they NOT stop the labor. He said if I went into labor December 8th or later he would not stop it. We also discussed if I would be able to be induced before December 31 (for that lovely tax credit you know). He said he doesn't see why not as long as my body is ready for delivery (I am efaced and dilated enough). All in all he says I am doing great and the ultrasound we had yesterday looks great and the baby's growth (almost 3 inches from crown to rump) is right on schedule. This bring smiles to our faces. The only downside is he says it is still going to be awhile before I am over being so tired all the time. Oh well, I guess I should get used to no sleep from here on out until the baby is like, what, 25 years old.
